The Atlas HO Code 100 Customline Mark IV turnouts are constructed so that regardless of the switch point setting, both branches are powered. Due to this design, the metal front is insulated and carries no current. Although most locomotives will span the insulated frog without loss of electrical pickup, engines with an extremely short wheelbase or diesels with a single truck pickup may hesitate or stall at the frog. This problem can be easily overcome by equipping the turnouts with an Atlas Snap Relay which, when wired to the remote switch machine, will energize the frog with the track current of the correct polarity depending on the switch point setting.
This turnout is designed for use with the Atlas #0052 & #0053 (remote), #0054 & #0055 (manual), or #65 Under Table and #66 Deluxe Under Table switch machines.
